Captain | Youth Sports Coaching & Leadership

Soccer Shots — Berks, Chester, Delaware & Montgomery Counties, PA

Build Your Career in Youth Sports Leadership

Love coaching kids but ready to take on more responsibility?

Soccer Shots is looking for dependable, energetic, and motivated coaches to join our team as salaried Captains. This position combines hands-on youth sports coaching with leadership, program management, and professional development opportunities.

As a Captain, you'll do more than lead sessions. You'll take ownership of assigned program locations, build relationships with schools and families, support fellow coaches, and help deliver the consistent, high-quality experience that makes Soccer Shots special.

Whether you're pursuing a career in education, coaching, sports management, recreation, or youth development, this position offers meaningful experience and opportunities to grow.

Position Overview

  • Position: Captain

  • Employment: Full-time, year-round, salaried, nonexempt, at-will

  • Total Compensation Package: Up to $32,000 annually, including eligible health and fuel benefits (with seasonally weighted payments)

  • Payroll: Semi-monthly, year-round

  • Additional Coaching: ~$50 per hour of approved sessions completed outside of your salaried schedule

  • Fuel Benefit: Company fuel card for approved business travel, up to $300 per month

  • Health Benefit: Up to $200 per month in eligible healthcare reimbursements

  • Session Load: Generally 30 or more sessions per week during peak seasons

  • Schedule: Typically four and a half days per week, including one weekend day, during peak seasons

  • Service Area: Berks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties

We establish coaching schedules, session expectations, and any subbing or on-call responsibilities before each season. Scheduling considers known school, work, and personal commitments whenever possible.

Year-Round Employment & Seasonal Compensation

Our Captain program is designed to provide meaningful leadership experience and continuous year-round employment while adapting to the seasonal nature of youth sports.

Unlike seasonal coaching positions, Captains receive compensation throughout all 12 months of the year, with payments weighted according to seasonal coaching activity.

Spring (March–May), Summer (June–August), and Fall (September–November)

Captains maintain regular coaching schedules, leadership responsibilities, and program assignments during our primary seasons.

Compensation is weighted at 100% during March through July and 104.5% during August through November, reflecting our seasonal coaching demands.

The anticipated 4.5% August raise is already incorporated into the annual salary and is not an additional increase beyond the stated compensation.

Winter (January–February)

Coaching schedules and responsibilities are generally reduced during Winter, with compensation weighted at 50% of the standard seasonal rate.

Captains continue receiving scheduled salary payments while fulfilling agreed coaching, availability, and organizational responsibilities.

December and Seasonal Transitions

December typically involves reduced programming, seasonal preparation, and organizational support, with compensation weighted at 25%.

Captains remain employed and continue receiving scheduled compensation during off-peak periods, including when no sessions are assigned, while fulfilling agreed availability and work expectations.
